Salon des Vignerons indépendants, the Mecca of wine amateurs
Fancy a good glass of wine? Then, the salon des vignerons indépendants (Paris independent wine-makers) is the hottest place in town for you! The even takes place every year in the Salon des Expositions in the 15th district and welcomes more than 500 wine-makers from all French regions: Bordelais, Côtes du Rhône, Beaujolais, Bourgogne, Champagne, Alsace, Provence… You’ll be given a tasting glass at the entrance so you can sample all the wines on display in the different booths. Despite the crowd, producers are usually happy to answer your questions. You can then buy the bottles directly from the producer or get them shipped to your place.
All of the “vignerons indépendants” are committed to respecting a charter of quality: they must cultivate, harvest and vinify the wine themselves before bottling it in their private cellars. A logo certifies that they are keeping all these engagements. The Salon is a good occasion for them to advertise and perpetrate the tradition of their wineries. It would thus be a shame to miss this opportunity if you’re a wine amateur! If you can, try to come during the week as it will be less crowded.
